The International Economic Forum “Russia Islamic World: Kazan Forum” is about to open in Kazan on the 18th, attracting approximately 15000 people from 85 countries to participate.
The Kazan Forum is a platform for Russia and Organisation of Islamic Cooperation member countries to strengthen economic, trade, science, technology, social and cultural cooperation. It became a federal forum in 2003. The 14th Kazan Forum will be held from May 18th to 19th.
Tarya Minulina, Director of the Investment and Development Agency of the Republic of Tatarstan in Russia, said that the distinguished guests attending the forum included three Deputy Prime Ministers of Russia, Andrei Belovsov, Malat Husnulin, Alexei Overchuk, as well as Moscow and all Russian Orthodox Patriarch Kiril. The Prime Minister of Tajikistan, Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan, Ministers of the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Malaysia, Uganda, Qatar, Pakistan, Afghanistan, 45 diplomatic delegations, and 37 ambassadors will also participate in the forum.
The forum schedule includes approximately 200 various activities, including business negotiations, conferences, round table discussions, cultural, sports, and educational activities. The topics of the forum include the trend of Islamic financial technology and direct foreign investment, the development of interregional and international industrial cooperation, the promotion of Russian exports, the creation of innovative tourism products, and the cooperation between Russia and Organisation of Islamic Cooperation member countries in science, education, sports and other fields.
The main activities of the first day of the forum include: the conference on the development of the international north-south transport corridor, the opening ceremony of the Forum for Young Diplomats and Young Entrepreneurs of Organisation of Islamic Cooperation countries, the inter parliamentary hearing on “International cooperation and innovation: new opportunities and prospects for cooperation with Gulf countries”, the meeting of ambassadors of Organisation of Islamic Cooperation member countries, and the opening ceremony of the Russian Halal Expo.
The main activities of the second day of the Forum include the plenary session of the Forum – “Confidence in the economy: partnership between Russia and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation countries”, the strategic vision group meeting “Russia Islamic world”, and other strategic conferences, round table discussions, and bilateral talks.
The cultural activities of the Kazan Forum are also very rich, including exhibitions of the relics of the Prophet Muhammad, visits to Kazan, Borgar, and Svyazhsk islands, Kazan Kremlin city wall lighting shows, boutique performances at major theaters in the Republic of Tatarstan, Muslim International Food Festival, and Muslim Fashion Festival.
